FAQ's:What does a re-recording mixer do, and how is it different from sound design?
A re-recording mixer takes the finished dialogue, sound effects, music and Foley and balances them into the final soundtrack, shaping levels, space and dynamics so the story lands. Sound design is the creative work of building the sounds themselves. I do both, which means I can shape sound and mix it with the whole story in mind.What kinds of projects do you work on?
Feature films, high-end drama, feature documentaries, animation and commercial branding work. Recent credits include Warfare, Wuthering Heights, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and Lord of the Flies. I've also sound designed, mixed and scored 176 episodes of Chuggington for BBC and Disney.Where are you based, and do you work remotely?
I'm based in East Sussex near London and work with clients across the UK and internationally. I work remotely from my home studio as well as Pinewood and facilities in London.What delivery formats do you mix in?
I regularly mix in Theatrical and Home Dolby Atmos as well as 5.1 and stereo.Can you handle both sound design and the final mix on the same project?
Yes. Working on both often saves time and gives a more cohesive result, especially on animation, documentary and smaller-budget productions. On larger projects I can also come in for the final mix alone, working alongside your supervising sound editor and sound design team.Do you work with productions outside the UK?
